India vs South Africa 1st ODI Highlights: India thrash South Africa by 8 wickets, take 1-0 lead in the series

IND vs SA Live Updates: India pace bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan wreaked havoc as the KL Rahul-led visitors thrashed South Africa by eight wickets in the opening One-Day International at the Wanderers on Sunday.

On a wicket offering pace and bounce to the quicks, Avesh returned figures of 4 for 27 in his eight overs, while left-armer Arshdeep had excellent figures of 5 for 37 in 10 overs as the Proteas were dismissed for a paltry 116 in 27.3 overs.

Sai Sudharsan (55 not out) and Shreyas Iyer (52) then struck fine half centuries to chase down the target in 16.4 overs for the loss of two wickets.

India and South Africa handed debut caps to 22-year-old top order batter B Sai Sudharsan and bowling all-rounder Nandre Burger respectively.

South Africa: 116 all out in 27.3 overs (Tony de Zorzi 28, Andile Phehlukwayo 33; Arshdeep Singh 5/37, Avesh Khan 4/27).

Always nice to see people coming out in pink. It is a big thing, lot of money raised, hopefully there's a lot of fours and sixes for the fundraiser. We have had some good results here. Looking forward to what will be a great day. Everyone comes in pink, it's grown and got bigger each year. I didn't know that (nearing 4500 ODI runs), will be good to top it off today. It's been a nice career and really enjoying my cricket at the moment.

No (haven't played since the WC final). Special day, I watched a lot of cricket on TV - the Pink ODI is a big occasion here in South Africa. Looking forward to a cracker of a game. There was a spin and it was try, we'll try to put pressure on them. Sai Sudharsan is debuting today. There are a few names that have played a lot of IPL cricket. Ruturaj did well, Tilak seems exciting, Sanju is always exciting. We've got Axar, Kuldeep who'd love to see some spin. They know what pressure is and how to handle it. They all come with IPL experience, hopefully that helps them here and they can perform to the best of their ability.
