After pacers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan skittled out South Africa for a meager 116 runs, India batters joined the party to chase down the small target in 17th over. Debutant Sai Sudharsan (55* off 43) scored a fifty on debut and added 88 runs for the second wicket with Shreyas Iyer (52 off 45). The duo made sure that India reached the target in quick time.

Sai Sudharsan (45*) swept Tabraiz Shamsi towards deep square leg for a four to score 8 runs in it. The left-hander is just five short of a fifty on debut.

Shreyas Iyer (40*) hit a drive past point fielder for a four to score 8 runs off Keshav Maharaj. Looks like India batters are in a hurry to reach the small target.

Just five runs off Keshav Maharaj's over, and no boundaries. But India are cruising in their run chase at the moment with just 46 more needed to win.

Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi came into the attack and put a break to the boundary flow. India batters managed to collect five runs in it - a wide and four singles.

India batters are scoring boundaries at will in the middle. Shreyas Iyer (28*) hit a four off Keshav Maharaj, who came into the attack, to score six runs off it. India are moving towards the low target in quick time.

The hosts decided to take a review and got the early breakthrough they are looking for. Shreyas Iyer then hit a straight four off the first ball he faced to collect 11 runs off Mulder in the over.

Sai Sudharsan (11*) hit another boundary and scored five runs off fellow debutant Nandre Burger. Three boundaries in three overs for India. Good, positive start from the openers.

A mix-up in the middle and Sai Sudharsan survived a run-out this time. Direct hit will have ended his innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad hit a four to collect six runs off it.

Debutant Sai Sudharsan started his international career with a four off the first ball, and then survived a big shout for LBW soon after. South Africa decided not to go for a review and the left-hander survived.

Playing their first 50-over game post the World Cup final, the Indian pace duo exhibited a masterclass, leaving the formidable Proteas batting order looking vulnerable on a track that provided ample assistance.Arshdeep, a left-arm pacer from Punjab, delivered a magical spell, claiming a five-wicket haul (5/37 in 10 overs) and silencing critics who had questioned his consistency in the shortest format.

Arshdeep Singh bowled a magical spell before ending with a five-wicket haul while Avesh Khan looked menacingly quick as India's fringe pacers rattled South Africa for a paltry 116 in the first ODI on Sunday.

Playing their first 50-over game post the World Cup final, it seemed that Arshdeep (5/37 in 10 overs) and Avesh (4/27 in 8 overs) had picked up a cue from their seniors Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah as a quality Proteas batting line-up were made to look like novices on a track that offered a lot of help.

It was Arshdeep's first five-wicket haul in ODIs and the Punjab left-armer would certainly feel good having drawn a lot of flak for his inconsistency in the shortest format.

In their last encounter at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, South Africa were bowled out for 83 under lights on a slow deck but never would have Aiden Markram envisaged that he and his men would be bullied at the 'Bull Ring' which has been a safe haven for them in white ball cricket. Their innings lasted only 27.3 overs.

Only three players -- skipper KL Rahul, wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav and middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, who played the World Cup final are a part of this current playing eleven, and India's back-up pacers gave a good account of themselves.

No fifer for Avesh Khan. Kuldeep Yadav wrapped up the South Africa innings with a wicket. The hosts are bundled out for just 116 in 27.3 overs. For India, Arshdeep Singh (5/37) and Avesh Khan (4/27) were the wrecker-in-chief for the visitors. Andile Phehlukwayo (33) was the top-scorer for the Proteas.

Maiden five-wicket haul for Arshdeep Singh - 5 for 37 in 10 overs. The pacer completed his spell with a successful over - a wicket and four runs off it. Excellent outing for the left-armer, who took his first ODI wicket today and made it a fifer.

Wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is keeping it tight - just two runs off it.

Andile Phehlukwayo (32*) is keeping the scoreboard ticking for South Africa as he smacked a six to collect 8 runs off it. Good one for the hosts.

A single each off the first and last deliveries as Kuldeep Yadav started his spell with a tidy one.

Arshdeep Singh gave away just two singles in it. Good one for India.
