India vs South Africa highlights: India safely reached 9/0 at stumps in reply to South Africa’s 489 in the first innings of the second Test after the second day’s play here on Sunday.
India, who had earlier sent down more than 151 overs to take 10 wickets here at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, were trailing by a massive 480 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting on 7, accompanied by KL Rahul on 2 not out when bad light forced an early stumps.
Earlier, Marco Jansen (93) missed out on his maiden Test hundred after Senuran Muthusamy struck a fine 109 as South Africa scored 489 in the first innings.

Muthusamy stitched a 88-run stand for the seventh wicket with Kyle Verreynne (45) and then added 97 runs with Jansen to consolidate for South Africa, who had resumed the day’s play at a precarious 247 for six.
While Muthusamy hit his maiden Test ton, Jansen missed his when he played one onto his wickets off Kuldeep Yadav.
Kuldeep (4/115) got the most wickets among Indian bowlers who were made to toil for their wickets for majority of the last two days as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja claimed two wickets each.
Washington Sundar remained wicketless and so did Nitish Reddy, who bowled only six out of 151.1 overs which India had to bowl.

It was a really special moment in front of this full house. I'm just glad that I could contribute to the team and really put some runs on the board in the first innings, which is always important. It (plan) was just to build partnerships and to really try and extend the innings and then score runs in between. I think Scholesy (Verreynne) did really well today and Marco was special. And the other guys chipped in as well, which was awesome.

Under pressure after losing four late wickets on Day 1 and facing a relatively new ball, Senuran Muthusamy and Kyle Verreynne focused on rebuilding. Muthusamy, solid from the previous evening, carried on confidently, while Verreynne offered firm support. The pair showed discipline, absorbed India’s probing spells, and capitalised on loose deliveries to put together a resilient, much-needed partnership.

India vs South Africa highlights: India closed the second day on 9/0 in response to South Africa’s commanding first-innings total of 489 in the second Test on Sunday. After sending down more than 151 overs to bowl out the visitors at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, India faced a daunting 480-run deficit.
Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (7*) and KL Rahul (2*) survived a testing period before bad light brought an early end to play, ensuring no further setbacks.
Earlier in the day, Marco Jansen fell agonisingly short of a maiden Test century, dismissed for 93, while Senuran Muthusamy’s superb 109 powered South Africa to a strong first-innings total of 489 on day two.
Resuming at a shaky 247 for six, South Africa were steadied by Muthusamy’s 88-run partnership with Kyle Verreynne (45).
He then combined with Jansen for a valuable 97-run stand that pushed the visitors firmly ahead. Muthusamy brought up his first Test hundred with composed batting, but Jansen’s dream was cut short when he dragged a googly from Kuldeep Yadav onto his stumps.
Kuldeep finished as India’s most successful bowler with 4 for 115, while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each after long, gruelling spells. Washington Sundar went wicketless, and debutant Nitish Reddy bowled only six of the 151.1 overs India sent down in a taxing effort across nearly six sessions.
