Gautam Gambhir’s heated exchange with Suryakumar Yadav goes viral after MCG defeat - Watch

A day after India’s disappointing defeat to Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a video of head coach Gautam Gambhir’s animated exchange with captain Suryakumar Yadav has gone viral. The clip, captured moments after the match, shows Gambhir appearing visibly frustrated as he engaged in a serious discussion with his skipper following India’s batting collapse.

Australia had earlier registered a commanding six-wicket win in the second T20I, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. India’s batting lineup faltered badly after being put in to bat, folding for just 125. Abhishek Sharma was the lone bright spot, smashing 68 off 37 balls, while Harshit Rana chipped in with 35. Apart from the duo, no Indian batter managed to reach double digits.



Josh Hazlewood was the chief destroyer for Australia, finishing with superb figures of 3 for 13. He dismissed Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma in quick succession to derail India’s innings. In reply, the Australian openers came out all guns blazing, with Mitchell Marsh (46 off 26) and Travis Head (28 off 15) setting the tone early. Despite some resistance from the Indian bowlers, including Bumrah, Kuldeep, and Varun Chakravarthy who took two wickets each, the hosts cruised home with 40 balls to spare.

The viral footage of Gambhir’s intense chat with Suryakumar has sparked speculation about what went wrong within the camp. With assistant coaches Morne Morkel and Ryan ten Doeschate also present, the discussion seemed to reflect the frustration of a missed opportunity. While Gambhir appeared to express dissatisfaction over tactical decisions and batting execution, Suryakumar was seen responding calmly.

India now trails 0-1 in the series and will be under pressure to bounce back strongly in the third T20I as questions mount over their middle-order form and overall approach.
