'Chatting with him ... ': Suryakumar Yadav's big comment on Jasprit Bumrah

Yadav said Bumrah’s presence had instilled a sense of accountability among the bowlers while also creating a strong bond within the group.
“From a bowling point of view as well, people are taking responsibility. Having an experienced bowler like [Jasprit] Bumrah around in the team and everyone chatting with him, learning a lot of skills, tricks and trade of the game, I think that's a good thing. So there's good friendship building up in that as well,” Suryakumar told reporters after the series win.
The victory marked India’s seventh straight T20I series triumph since their 2024 T20 World Cup win, underlining their continued dominance in the shortest format. The fifth and final T20I at The Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday was washed out due to persistent rain and lightning, leaving India 52 for no loss in 4.5 overs before play was abandoned.
India’s openers Abhishek Sharma (23)* and Shubman Gill (29)* had given the visitors a flying start, adding 50 runs inside the Powerplay before the weather intervened.
Across the series, Suryakumar praised both departments, appreciating the bowlers’ adaptability and the consistency shown by the top-order batters.
“From a batting point of view, definitely what we've been doing in the last six to eight months, I think we're sticking to that, not changing anything. These guys are doing it really well. The way they bat at the top of the order puts a smile on everyone's face when they're batting together,” he said.
“So we are trying to get there. There's never anything like all bases covered. We always learn from this game, every game we play. Yeah, till now things look good, touch wood, let's continue that,” he added.
Bumrah, who now has 99 wickets in 79 T20Is at an average of 18.11 and an economy of 6.36, is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in the format, behind Arshdeep Singh (105 wickets in 67 matches).
Australia had earlier won the second T20I after the series opener was rained out, but India bounced back to clinch victories in Hobart and the Gold Coast before sealing the series with the washed-out finale.
