Indian cricket captain Shubman Gill scored 269 runs at Edgbaston, leading India to a strong position of 587 on Day 2, but missed out on a potential triple century after being caught by Ollie Pope off Josh Tongue's bowling.Despite Gill's impressive performance, his father found areas for improvement while expressing pride in his son's achievement through a video message."Shubman beta, well played. Watching your batting today was a lot of fun and gave me immense satisfaction. Your innings reminded me of the way you used to play as a child—like during your U16 and U19 days. I felt very proud," said Lakhwinder Singh on BCCI TVGill, who attributes his cricket career to his father's influence, responded to the message with deep appreciation.

"Growing up, I played almost all my cricket for my dad. It was because of him that I even started playing cricket. Though he also reminded me that I missed my triple century - hopefully, we can finish this match on a great note," Gill said.

This reaction from Gill's father echoes a similar instance from over four years ago during India's victory against Australia in the 4th Brisbane Test. In that match, Gill scored 91 runs as India secured victory with Pant hitting the winning runs, triggering celebrations at Gill's housing society in Mohali.
However, his father Lakhwinder Gill expressed disappointment about the missed century opportunity back then.
