NEW DELHI:
Ravichandran Ashwin, who in the third Test against England became the second Indian bowler to complete 500 wickets, achieved a rare feat on the first day of the fourth Test in Ranchi on Friday.
Ashwin took his first wicket of the match when he trapped
Jonny Bairstow plumb in front in the 22nd over of the England innings.
Bairstow lined up to play a sweep shot but missed and was struck on the back thigh right in front of the stumps. India went for the review and ball-tracking showed the ball to be hitting middle-stump.
Bairstow fell for a 35-ball 38.
With this wicket, Ashwin became the first Indian to complete 1000 runs and 100 wickets against an opponent in Tests.
