Time for the run chase! Evin Lewis and Sunil Narine, playing his 50th T20I, are the openers for West Indies. India, like yesterday, are starting with the spin of Washington Sundar. All set, here we go...
West Indies have a stiff target in front of them. They have seen how India approached their innings today and should be trying to ape it. The hosts need to play out the initial phase safely but not overcautiously as stroke-making won't be easy once the ball gets old. Can the Windies chase this down to level the series? Do join us in a short while to find out.
Unlike Saturday, the Indian openers came good in this match and formed a 67-run association. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then took it forward with a 48-run partnership and put India in a strong position. But a flurry of wickets followed after that and from 115/1, the visitors slipped to 143/5 in a space of 29 balls. The handy cameo from Krunal Pandya at the very end propelled the score past the 150-run mark.
The final over has really spoiled all the good work done by the West Indian bowlers before the 20th over! Once again the Indian middle order failed to come to the party and a few loose shots put the Men in Blue in a spot. Oshane Thomas and Sheldon Cottrell were the standout bowlers, who bowled well especially at the death.
K Paul to R Jadeja, Paul finally nails his yorker and serves it outside off, Jadeja squeezes it out towards covers and crosses. 20 from the over, a big finish for India as they end on 167/5!
K Paul to R Jadeja, SIX! Jadeja joins the party! Keemo is leaking runs here. Another yorker gone wrong and Jadeja needs no second invitation there. He muscles a full toss down to cow corner and it lands flush on the ropes.
K Paul to K Pandya, Slower length ball outside off, Krunal is early into his shot a bit and forces it down off the toe end towards long off. Just a run.
K Paul to K Pandya, Clever slower one, short and wide outside off, Krunal flashes and misses.
K Paul to K Pandya, SIX! And again! Paul delivers a length this time, around off and angling in, Krunal latches onto it and launches it over long off for back-to-back maximums. Momentum shifting!
K Paul to K Pandya, SIX! This one has gone the distance! Taken a while but it has come at the right time for the Indian team. Paul fails to land his yorker and Pandya makes full use of a full toss in his half. He swings and swings it hard over square leg for a maximum. 150 up!
S Cottrell to K Pandya, The batsman works it down the leg side. They pick up a single.
S Cottrell to R Jadeja, Run out chance! Missed. Angling down the leg side, Jadeja misses his flick and it goes behind off his pads. They try to steal a leg bye and Pooran misses his shy at the striker's end. Had he hit, Krunal was a goner.
S Cottrell to R Jadeja, A near yorker, Jadeja clips it through mid-wicket and rushes back for the second run. The throw comes in and the keeper tries to deflect it to stumps but fails in his attempt.
Ravindra Jadeja is the new batsman with 9 balls left in the innings.
S Cottrell to M Pandey, OUT! Smart bowling by Sheldon Cottrell. He alters his length and bangs in a short ball around middle and leg. Manish Pandey stays leg side of the delivery and attempts to pull it over the leg side. But there is good bounce on this one and it takes the top edge. The keeper jumps to pouch the catch and once again Pandey fails to impress.
S Cottrell to K Pandya, A yorker around leg, sliding down, Pandya fails to get it away and is hit on the pads. The ball rolls down to short fine leg and they steal a leg bye.
