Tea Break, Day 1 - Second session in a nutshell!
Mohammed Shami removed Dom Sibley soon after lunch and then returned to claim the wicket of Jonny Bairstow (29) just before Tea as England got to 138 for four after the second session on Day 1 of the Nottingham Test. Resuming the session on 61/2, England lost Sibley in the third over after the break as India pacers continued to probe the England batters. But Bairstow and skipper Root were up to the task as they looked pretty watchful against the moving ball. The duo also did not waste the opportunity to score on the loose balls as they took their team past the 100-run mark in the second session after a slow start. In the process, Root also got to his 50th Test fifty. But just towards the end, skipper Virat Kohli brought back Shami as India broke the frustrating 72-run fourth wicket stand with the help of a review. Earlier, after a terrific performance in the first session, India pacers continued to impress but just could not manage to convert the good deliveries into wicket-taking ones. There were quite a few plays and misses and ball beating the outside edge but luck was in favour of Root and Bairstow. Shami, eventually helped India claim the advantage in the session with his late strike. Root went into the break on an unbeaten 52.
