NEW DELHI: After suffering a 10-wicket defeat in the second Test against Australia in Adelaide, India now shift their focus to the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will begin from Saturday at the Gabba, Brisbane.

India kicked off the series with a massive 295-run victory in the first Test in Perth before Australia bounced back to draw level.

While momentum now appears to favour Australia, the hosts will be reminded of the bitter memories from their last encounter with India at the Gabba.

A blistering 89 from Rishabh Pant powered India to a thrilling three-wicket victory, clinching the series 2-1 and breaking Australia's 33-year unbeaten streak at their iconic fortress.

Although the five-Test series will remain alive after Brisbane, the stakes are significant in the context of the World Test Championship (WTC).

Another defeat for India would leave their hopes of reaching the WTC final out of their hands, while bringing reigning champions Australia within one victory of next year's decider at Lord's.
