NEW DELHI: In a rare occurrence, India speedster Prasidh Krishna grabbed two wickets in consecutive balls in the very first over of the innings during the India A vs Australia A game in Melbourne on Saturday.
A fiery Prasidh got rid of Australia's two Test contenders for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, dismissing Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft for golden ducks.
The Prasidh strikes came on the second and third balls of the first over after Nathan McSweeney opened Australia A's account with a single off the first ball of the over.
The lanky pacer straightaway went round the wicket against Harris, bowling full length delivery outside off. And the move was an instant success as the ball swung in a touch and took the inside edge of Harris' bat before going into keeper Dhruv Jurel gloves.
Soon after Harris was dismissed for a first-ball duck, Bancroft came in and Prasidh welcomed him with a ripping toe-crusher and the right-hander was caught right in front of the stumps.
Prasidh however missed out on a third wicket in a row as Sam Konstas steered the hat-trick ball to the fielder at gully.
After Prasidh strikes dented Australia A's 168 chase early, Nathan McSweeney and Sam Konstas steadied the ship in the third session.
Earlier, Dhruv Jurel's solid 68-run knock and contributions of the lower-order batters took India A to 229 all out in their second innings.
