Aditya Tare to lead Mumbai against Tamil Nadu

Wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare and a clutch of top players will be back for Mumbai when they take on a formidable Tamil Nadu in their second match of the Ranji Trophy, which will be played from October 24-27 at the MCA Sharad Pa-war Cricket Academy Ground in Bandra Kurla Complex.

MUMBAI: Wicketkeeper-batsman Aditya Tare and a clutch of top players will be back for Mumbai when they take on a formidable Tamil Nadu in their second match of the Ranji Trophy, which will be played from October 24-27 at the MCA Sharad Pa-war Cricket Academy Ground in Bandra Kurla Complex.On Saturday, the Mumbai selectors named a strong 15-man squad which included Shreyas Iyer, Dhawal Kulkarni and Prithvi Shaw, who were all busy with India A or Board President's match against the visiting New Zealanders, for the match. Shaw, in fact was set to go for the Under-19 Asia Cup before India's junior selectors pulled him out of the squad to enable him to play in the Ranji Trophy.Tare had missed the opening clash against Madhya Pradesh as his wife was due to give birth to their child around that time. Despite being severely depleted, Mumbai did well to take the first innings lead and wrest three points off MP at Indore. The Tamil Nadu team landed in the city on Saturday. Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will join the TN team on Sunday. The TN side will be reinforced by the return of India's Test opener Murali Vijay, who missed the last game due to an ankle injury, and all-rounder Vijay Shankar, who did well for India A against New Zealand A. Ashwin to spearhead TN attackAll-rounder Vijay Shankar and Baba Aparajith returned to the Tamil Na-du team which will take on Mumbai. Shankar and Aparajith, who were part of the India A squad that played the visiting New Zealand A in a limited-overs series, had missed the first two games and would bolster the side that would be without the services of stumper Dinesh Karthik, who is on national duty.Test opener Murali Vijay, who missed the second match against Tripura owing to a neck spasm, is back in the squad.All-rounder R Ashwin, who has not been picked in the India team to take on New Zealand in a three-match ODI series, will spearhead the spin attack, which also includes Rahil S Shah, MS Washington Sundar and R Sai Kishore.Paceman V Yo Mahesh was the surprise pick in the 16-man squad while newbie paceman V Lakshman, Malolan Rangarajan and J Kousik have been dropped. Opener V Ganga Sridhar Raju has also been included, a TNCA media release said.Tamil Nadu have got four points from two drawn games against Andhra Pradesh and Tripura.
