Raipur: Team
Rajasthan have been a team to beat in Central Zone Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 tournament.
They have quality pacers in Aniket Choudhary, Khaleel Ahmed and Deepak Chahar. They have accurate spinner in Chandrapal Singh and quality allrounders in Tajinder Dhillon and Mahipal Lomror.
Till Monday, they were doing everything right. However, bottom placed Railways had other ideas on Tuesday.
Rajasthan put up a decent enough score, 150-6, on the board and it looked enough for the struggling Railways.
They had tough time against Madhya Pradesh seamers, who got them out for 111. Rajasthan attack was even better but they chased down the target with three balls and four wickets intact at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium here in Raipur.
Railways again had a poor start as they lost opener Akash Verma and Ashish Singh by the second over with only eight on the board. Akash Yadav (31, 22b, 4x4) and Chandepal Saini (41, 43b, 1x4, 1x6) brought them back in the match with 45-run third-wicket stand.
Skipper Mahesh Rawat, in company of Saini, took Railways closer with their 63-run association for the fourth wicket. Even though, Railways lost Saini, Rawat and Anureet Singh in quick succession, Arindam Ghosh (12, 9b, 1x4) and Ashish Yadav (13, 7b, 1x4) took them home. Choudhary had an off day as he could not stem the flow of runs.
When Rajasthan batted, they lost in-form Aditya Garhwal and Ankit Lamba early. It was time for Rajasthan middle order to take the responsibility. Sarfaraz Khan (40, 37b, 3x4) and Mahipal Lomror (20, 22b, 2x4) did the repair job. Dhillon then again proved his allround utility and scored a quickfire 43 (25b, 3x4, 1x6) to take his team to 150-run mark.
