NEW DELHI: New Zealand's Lockie Ferguson took an absolute blinder to dismiss skipper Eoin Morgan during England’s run chase in the World Cup final at the Lord’s in London. Chasing a decent 242-run target, England were in a spot of bother as they were reeling at 86 for four after Morgan’s departure.


The incident took place on the first ball of the 24th over when Jimmy Neesham dug in the ball short outside off. Morgan went for the cut over point but failed to time the ball.

Ferguson, at deep point was initially a bit late to react, but then produced a superhuman effort diving forward to complete the catch inches above from the ground.


Pacers brought the Kiwis back in the game after the Kane Williamson-led side disappointed with the bat.

New Zealand finished their innings at 241 for eight as Liam Plunkett and Chris Woakes took three wickets apiece to dent New Zealand’s pursuit of a big total.

Chasing 242, England too got off to a turbulent start, losing the top order batsmen early in the innings.
