Player of the Day, Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka: Nuwan Pradeep

NEW DELHI: Nuwan Pradeep starred with the ball as Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by 34 runs at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Tuesday to register their first win of the 2019 ICC Cricket world Cup.
Pradeep finished with figures of 4/31 as Sri Lanka defended 186.
With Afghanistan chasing a tricky total in 41 overs (revised DLS target), the 32-year-old helped Sri Lanka bundle out Afghanistan for 152 in 32.4 overs.

Pradeep chipped in with wickets of Hazratullah Zazai (30), Hashmatullah Shahidi (4), Gulbadin Naib (23) and Rashid Khan (2) denting Afghanistan's run chase.
With a terrific spell along with some assistance from weather conditions, Pradeep also produced his career best figures in ODIs.
Along with Pradeep, veteran Lasith Malinga also returned figures of 3/39 helping Sri Lanka register a comfortable win.
