NEW DELHI: Five-time champions Australia take on minnows Netherlands in the 24th Match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.
Australia and Netherlands have played 2 ODIs against each other and both have been won by Australia.
The Dutch stunned South Africa, one of the tournament title favourites, last week.
That gave Netherlands a first win of the 2023 event and first in their history over a Test-playing nation at a 50-over World Cup.
The Dutch had also stunned South Africa in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
Four matches have been lost by Netherlands by 200-plus runs - the only team to suffer this dubious distinction in the World Cup.
Australia (358/5) beat the Dutch (129) on March 18, 2007 by 228 runs in Bassetterre.
Netherlands lost by 231 runs at Mohali on March 3, 2011; by 221 runs at Basseterre on March 16, 2007 (both to South Africa).
Netherlands lost to West Indies by 215 runs at Delhi on February 28, 2011.
The Dutch -- ranked 14th in the world -- reached India the hard way, coming through qualifying in Zimbabwe in the summer where they defeated two-time world champions West Indies.
Australia are fourth in the group stage standings, having steadied their campaign with successive wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan following heavy defeats against hosts India and South Africa.
