NEW DELHI: The Ahmedabad crowd witnessed a golden moment on Saturday when charismatic Virat Kohli caught up with his idol, legendary Sachin Tendulkar ahead of the blockbuster India-Pakistan clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Golden ticket holder Tendulkar, who is also ICC's ambassador for the 2023 World Cup, was a special guest for the much-anticipated India-Pakistan match.
Tendulkar also carried the World Cup trophy and placed it at the center of the action for the pre-match ceremony before joining the two teams in the middle for the national anthems after the toss.
Both Kohli and Tendulkar were part of India's 2011 World Cup winning team and the former is just three centuries away from surpassing his idol's 49 tons record in ODIs.
Kohli's World Cup journey commenced on a strong note as he delivered a match-winning performance by scoring 85 runs against Australia in Chennai followed by a fine half-century knock against Afghanistan on his home ground in Delhi.
