Fadnavis announces Rs 50 lakh for Maharashtra women World Cup cricketers

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh each for five members of the Indian women's team for their stellar performance in the recently concluded ICC World Cup.

MUMBAI: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh each for five members of the Indian women's team for their stellar performance in the recently concluded ICC World Cup.
These five women are residents of the state, of which three are players and two are crew members of the team. Smriti Mandhana, Mona Meshram and Poonam Raut are players. While Trupti Bhattacharya is the manager of the team and Rashmi Pawar was the physiotherapist of the team, both from Maharashtra.

"Their performance was watched with much excitement by the entire country, they have made us proud," said Fadnavis.
The team met Fadnavis in his office and when asked about a house for them, Fadnavis said that scheme for housing for sportsperson is challenged in the High Court and the state was in the process of making a new policy once it is cleared by the courts the government will be able to help them.
The Mumbai Cricket Association also announced a reward of Rs five lakh each for Raut, Mandhana and Meshram. The MCA has also conferred on them membership of MCA-BKC ground facility, it said in a release.
The Mithali Raj-led Indian team lost to England by nine runs in a nail-biting final at the Lords last Sunday. Raut scored a valiant 86 in the final.
The MCA would be felicitating the three players on August 13, it added.
