NEW DELHI: Explosive South African batter David Miller received a reprimand and one demerit point for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Super Eights Group 2 match against England in the T20 World Cup.The violation was related to Article 2.8 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which states: "showing dissent at an Umpire's decision during an International Match."As it was Miller's first offence within a 24-month period, a single demerit point was added to his disciplinary record. The incident took place during the 19th over of South Africa's innings when Miller played a full toss from pacer Sam Curran, expecting it to be called a 'no ball' due to its height. When the umpire did not declare it a 'no ball', Miller expressed dissent by signalling for a review, which was not possible in this situation.Miller acknowledged the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. The charge was brought forth by on-field umpires Chris Brown and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Joel Wilson, and fourth umpire Chris Gaffaney.
