Morkel was present in India's practice session -their first since the six-wicket win over Pakistan in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy on Sunday-under lights at the ICC Academy on Wednesday.

After enjoying a two-day break, the entire Indian team trained in the evening here except in-form opening batsman Shubman Gill. However, a t source insisted that Gill "is fine." Even 'keeper-bat Rishabh Pant, who was down with viral fever, has recovered and was present at the training session.

Appointed in September last year just ahead of Team India's home season, Morkel had initially arrived in Dubai with the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy on Feb 15. He attended the team's first practice session on Feb 16, but was absent from training on the next day. Dressed in a white hoodie and black shorts, the former South African fast bowler was seen stepping off the team bus.

In dominant form, India have beaten Bangladesh and Pakistan by six wickets at the Dubai International Stadium to book a semifinal berth, and will next take on New Zealand on Sunday at the same venue in their final group match.
