Ahead of the crucial India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy match, former India opener Shikhar Dhawan posted a nostalgic message about the time he spent with MS Dhoni on the field, recalling the triumphant 2013 Champions Trophy campaign under the iconic captain.

During the 2013 edition, Dhawan played a pivotal role in India's title triumph, which came with a win over England in the final. As the leading run-scorer of the tournament, Dhawan accumulated an impressive 363 runs, which included two hundreds and one fifty.

Dhawan shared a picture of him with Dhoni from the 2013 Champions Trophy on Instagram to recall the victory.

"Some moments stay with you forever; playing alongside Mahi bhai was one of them. With him on the field, there was always a sense of quiet confidence. Grateful for the lessons, the laughter, and the victories shared with Mahi bhai that created history!"

The veteran cricketer, who began his international journey in 2010, established himself as a crucial player in the Indian squad.

In August 2023, Dhawan concluded his distinguished international cricket career by announcing his retirement from all formats of the game.

During his 13-year stint in international cricket, Dhawan accumulated impressive statistics: 2315 runs in 34 Test matches, 6793 runs in 167 ODIs and 1579 runs in 68 T20Is.
