England vs Scotland Highlights, T20 World Cup 2026: Tom Banton’s fifty guides England to five-wicket win over Scotland

England vs Scotland Highlights, T20 World Cup 2026: It was a contest that swung dramatically in the middle overs. Scotland were cruising at 113 for 3 and eyeing a total close to 180 after a 71-run stand between Richie Berrington and Bruce. Earlier, Jofra Archer had struck twice in the powerplay, removing George Munsey and Brandon McMullen, while Michael Jones made a brisk 33 to take Scotland to 42 for 3 after six overs.

Berrington counterattacked smartly, taking on the spinners and using the flight of Adil Rashid to good effect. But after conceding 26 runs in his first two overs, Rashid switched ends and changed the game. He dismissed Berrington one short of a half-century and then removed Matthew Cross and Mark Watt in quick succession. Dawson chipped in with two wickets as Scotland collapsed from 113 for 3 to 127 for 8.

Chasing 153, England were rocked early as Phil Salt and Jos Buttler fell cheaply. Banton, dropped on 7 by Matthew Cross, made Scotland pay. He rebuilt the innings with Jacob Bethell in a 66-run stand. Even after Bethell and Harry Brook departed, Banton stayed calm, bringing up a 33-ball fifty and adding 46 runs with Sam Curran.

Will Jacks sealed the chase with a six and a boundary as England completed the win in 18.2 overs, keeping their campaign alive.

DRINKS BREAK. This has been a good little comeback for England as they have got two wickets in successive overs. From 113/3, Scotland have slipped down to 115/5. More importantly, both the set batters in Berrington and Bruce are gone in just four balls. With two new batters at the crease, England will aim to choke the run rate from here. A massive rebuilding phase begins for the Scots again if they are to post anything in excess of 170.

Adil Rashid to Richie Berrington, OUT! LBW! Adil strikes right after his return to the attack. Very full by Rashid, in front of the middle and leg stump. Richie Berrington sits down on his knee to sweep it away, but the googly turns in sharply and skids below his bat and crashes on the front pad. Given LBW on the appeal, and a not-so-confident Richie Berrington takes the review after having a chat with his partner. UltraEdge presents a flat line as the ball is close to the bat. Ball Tracking confirms that it is projected to clip the leg stump. It is umpire's call. So, not as straight as it looked to the naked eye, but the on-field decision is upheld.

England vs Scotland Highlights, T20 World Cup 2026: England kept their Super Eights hopes alive with a vital five-wicket win over Scotland in their Group C clash of the T20 World Cup. After a shock defeat to West Indies, this was a must-win game for the two-time champions, and they responded under pressure.

Scotland looked set for a big total at 113 for 3 in 12.3 overs, with Richie Berrington leading the charge. However, Adil Rashid changed the course of the match with a crucial three-wicket burst, including the dismissal of Berrington for 49. Liam Dawson supported him well as Scotland collapsed, losing five wickets for just 14 runs and finishing on 152 in 19.4 overs.

In reply, England stumbled early and slipped to 13 for 2. Tom Banton then held the innings together with a composed unbeaten 63 off 41 balls. He shared important partnerships with Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran to steady the chase. Will Jacks finished things off in 18.2 overs as England moved to second in the group with four points. They now face Italy in their final group match.
