Berrington counterattacked smartly, taking on the spinners and using the flight of Adil Rashid to good effect. But after conceding 26 runs in his first two overs, Rashid switched ends and changed the game. He dismissed Berrington one short of a half-century and then removed Matthew Cross and Mark Watt in quick succession. Dawson chipped in with two wickets as Scotland collapsed from 113 for 3 to 127 for 8.
Chasing 153, England were rocked early as Phil Salt and Jos Buttler fell cheaply. Banton, dropped on 7 by Matthew Cross, made Scotland pay. He rebuilt the innings with Jacob Bethell in a 66-run stand. Even after Bethell and Harry Brook departed, Banton stayed calm, bringing up a 33-ball fifty and adding 46 runs with Sam Curran.
Will Jacks sealed the chase with a six and a boundary as England completed the win in 18.2 overs, keeping their campaign alive.
