England vs Netherlands Highlights, World Cup 2023: England snap five-match losing streak with 160-run victory over Netherlands

England secured only their second win of the World Cup, beating the Netherlands by 160 runs in Pune on Wednesday.

Opting to bat, England posted 339 for 9 and then returned to bowl out the Dutch for 179 runs in 37.2 overs to keep their Championships Trophy qualification hopes alive.

England batting finally fired as Ben Stokes slammed a 84-ball 108 and Dawid Malan (87) and Chris Woakes (51) made fifties.

In reply, Teja Nidamanuru (41 not out) was the top scorer, while Wesley Barresi (37), Sybrand Engelbrecht (33), Scott Edwards (38) failed to capitalise on the starts.

Spin duo of Adil Rashid (3/54) and Moeen Ali (3/42) took three wickets each for the defending champions.

Absolutely desperate for the win. Malan got us off to a flier. Partnership between Stokes and Woakes was fantastic. Anytime you need someone to stand up, he (Stokes) seems to be the guy to do that. Smart cricket between him and Woakes. Thought it was a good score. But everyone who batted said it was a good pitch. The toss - you got to play good cricket as well. Can look back and say might've done different but you have to play good cricket too. He's a class cricketer (Woakes), been a brilliant performer for us. It was high-class swing bowling, deserved more than one wicket that he got. Huge game (Pakistan). At the end of a disappointing tournament it means a lot.

We didn't start well with the ball, let them get away from us. Bowlers did well to drag them back, but they got away again towards the end for a slightly above par total. Then same old story with the bat. Was a pretty good wicket. We held them well till the 43rd over. Maybe we could've tried a couple of different plans. But credit to them, they batted well. Need to find a balance chasing a 340 score. We'll talk about it and figure it out what we could've done better. Like you said we've been good in patches. Just got to do it for longer. Going to be an amazing atmosphere there (in Bangalore), boys are looking forward to it.

More pleased with the victory (than scoring a century), it has been a tough World Cup for us. It was a nice wicket to bat on, had some tennis-ball bounce. We (Woakes and himself) built a good partnership, whenever there was pressure building I had a look at the scoreboard and reminded myself there was a lot of time remaining (in the innings). Tried to take it deep and cash in later. He (Woakes) is a genuine all-rounder for us, he has been a great cricketer for England over the last 2-3 years and today he proved it.

England register a convincing 160-run win over Dutch

That's it! England have done it! Victory in Pune. A much-needed win finally falls England's way. Moeen Ali takes the final wicket in form of Paul van Meekeren as he is stumped 4. A massive 160 run win for Jos Buttler and co. as they finally end their five-game losing streak. Smiles in the England came as they get their second win of the competition. With the win, England have got up from the bottom of the table and moved up to the seventh spot.

Innings break in Pune - England get to a solid 339 for 9 against Netherlands

That's it! A terrific finish from England as ton-up Ben Stokes (108) takes them to a solid 339 for nine against Netherlands in Pune. Logan van Beek completes the final over of the innings, leaking 12 runs in it but he also took the wicket of Stokes in it. After Dawid Malan's (87) superb knock up top, Stokes produced a blinder to take England to a terrific total. England lost wickets in a flurry in the middle overs, but Stokes and Chris Woakes (51) raised a sensational century-plus stand to lift England. Notching up his maiden ODI World Cup ton, Stokes batted superbly in the final phase of the innings and have given a really good score. For Netherlands, Bas de Leede (3/74) was the most successful bowler.
