NEW DELHI: India defeated Bangladesh in the second Test match at Kanpur, winning by seven wickets.

Key players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj were jointly awarded the 'Fielder of the Series' medal for their performances. The match took place as part of the ICC World Test Championship. India aimed for a decisive result and accomplished it.

In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), fielding coach T Dilip lauded the team's intent to convert "half-chances" into "game-changing moments" irrespective of weather conditions they tackled.

"Be it the humidity in Chennai or challenging weather conditions in Kanpur, one thing was common, the intent to convert those half chances into game-changing moments. It was very much evident," said Dilip.

"Special mention to our slip catches and closing catches. In conditions where reflection and concentration were tested, we were absolutely spectacular." he added.

In the recent cricket Tests, fielding coach Dilip introduced Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul as nominees for the fielding medal. He praised Jaiswal as "rock solid," Siraj as a "livewire on field," and described Rohit Sharma's fielding as "as reliable as a Swiss watch."

With an impressive catching percentage of 97 percent across the two Tests, Dilip announced that Siraj and Jaiswal would share the fielding medal.

Throughout the match, significant contributions were seen from various players, including impressive shots, vigorous bowling, and notable catches. This victory allowed the Indian team to dominate the series and conclude it successfully.

After a two-day delay in play, Bangladesh resumed their innings on day four, having been put to bat first by India. Mominul Haque was the standout performer for Bangladesh, scoring 107 runs off 194 balls, which included 17 fours and a six. Bangladesh posted a total of 233 runs.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah took the lead in the bowling attack, claiming three wickets. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Akash Deep each contributed with two wickets, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up one.

In response, India comfortably chased down the target of 95 runs to secure a seven-wicket victory. Yashasvi Jaiswal was a key scorer with 51 runs off 45 balls, featuring eight fours and a six. Virat Kohli added 29 runs off 37 balls, which included four boundaries.

The match concluded with India achieving the target efficiently, marking a notable performance from both the bowlers and batsmen.
