The start of day two of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur was postponed due to inclement weather.

Shortly before the scheduled lunch time, the Indian squad departed for the hotel in their team bus.

The opening day's play was also affected by rain, with rain and wet conditions allowing only 35 overs to be bowled. Bangladesh reached 107 for 3, after which no more play was possible. Mominul Haque was batting on 40 and Mushfiqur Rahim on 6.

For India, who won the toss and opted to field, right-arm pacer Akash Deep (2 for 34) took two wickets. He dismissed openers Zakir Hasan (0) and Shadman Islam (24), which reduced Bangladesh to 29/2. It followed a 51-run stand between captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Haque, which was broken by Ravichandran Ashwin. The veteran off-spinner dismissed Shanto for 31.

The hosts came into this Test leading the two-match series 1-0, after winning the first match in Chennai by 280 runs.

India currently sit on top of the World Test Championship table. The series against Bangladesh will be followed by New Zealand arriving in India for a three-Test tour.
