NEW DELHI:
Sanju Samson came under fire from fans on social media following another early dismissal in the second T20I against Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.
Promoted to open the innings in the series, the wicketkeeper-batter initially looked promising with two boundaries through the covers in the opening over. However, he was dismissed in the second over, misjudging a slower delivery from
Taskin Ahmed and chipping the ball straight to Najmul Hossain Shanto at mid-off for just 10 runs.
Fans were quick to express their frustration on social media, criticizing Samson for squandering yet another opportunity on a flat Delhi pitch.
Comments flooded online platforms, with many questioning his place in the team and his inability to capitalize on starts despite being given multiple chances.
India’s head coach
Gautam Gambhir was visibly disappointed after Samson’s departure, a sentiment echoed by fans who have seen the talented 29-year-old struggle to cement his spot in the side.
Samson also fell short in the series opener, where he was dismissed for 29 after a promising start, adding to the growing frustration among supporters.
The T20I series against Bangladesh offered Samson a golden chance to shine, especially with
Yashasvi Jaiswal and
Shubman Gill rested. However, his continued inconsistency has put him under intense scrutiny.
