NEW DELHI: Star India batter Virat Kohli on Sunday became the fastest to get to the 25,000-run mark in international cricket.

Kohli achieved the feat in 549 international matches across formats, surpassing legendary Sachin Tendulkar (34,437), who got to the landmark in 577 innings.

Kohli got to the exclusive club in the second session on Day 3 of the Delhi Test against Australia.

Australia great Ricky Ponting (27,483) is third on the list. He got the the 25,000-run mark in 588 innings.

South African Jacques Kallis (594 innings) is fourth on the list followed by Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (608) and Mahela Jayawardene (701).

Let's keep coming up with such stupid statistics all the time. The only criteria to be in the team should be your match-winning ability. Except for the T20 WC against Pak, what has he contributed to winning crucial games in the last 3-4 years ? People scold KL but forget that in terms of match-winning performances there have been very few from kohli esp in test cricket !!!
