MUMBAI: A host of top dignitaries of world cricket administration are set to watch the first ODI between India and Australia at the

Wankhede Stadium

on Tuesday.


TOI has learnt that the 20-odd 'VIP' list includes former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Cricket Australia CEO

Kevin Roberts

and New Zealand Cricket CEO David White. All the three, plus a host of top Board officials, including secretary Jay Shah and treasurer Arun Dhumal were in the city already for the BCCI awards, which were held on Sunday evening.

On the eve of the game, the trio held a meeting in which they discussed a host of issues, including the possibility of India playing a day/night Test in Australia later this year, organizing a 'Super Series'-an ODI competition involving India, Australia, England plus and perhaps one of New Zealand or South Africa.

It's being speculated that in exchange of India agreeing for the day/night Test, something which their captain Virat Kohli confirmed on Monday, Cricket Australia (CA) is likely to avoid scheduling any cricket during the IPL. Australia are supposed to tour Bangladesh this summer. Post Monday's meeting with Ganguly, though, that tour may be pushed to the second of June till July.
