The plea stated: “Cricket between nations is meant to show harmony and friendship. But after the Phalagam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, when our people died and our soldiers risked everything, playing with Pakistan sent the opposite message that while our soldiers sacrificed their lives, we are celebrating sports with the same country sheltering terrorists.

Petitioners also said such matches could hurt the morale of armed forces and the sentiments of families who lost loved ones. “National dignity and citizen security should take priority over entertainment,” the plea added. The Supreme Court, however, declined to urgently list the matter, allowing the game to go ahead.
