His numbers read like a dream: 121 off 51, 89 off 46, 62 off 37, and 83 off 41. That is four fifty-plus scores in a row, including a blistering century, with three Player of the Match awards to his name. Add to that 30 sixes in just four innings, and you get a picture of pure dominance.

Shubman Gill returning as vice-captain, doubts were raised about whether Samson would even get to open or be pushed down the order again. But Samson has done what he knows best: silence the debate with his bat.

Abhishek Sharma has locked in one opening spot after his explosive T20I run. That leaves the fight for the second opener’s role squarely between Gill and Samson.

Samson’s form has made the team management’s job both exciting and challenging. With the Asia Cup around the corner, the big question is whether Samson’s explosive run as an opener will finally earn him a settled spot at the top for India. What is certain is that he could not have timed this purple patch any better.
