The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan Asia Cup clash is scheduled for Saturday, September 2. This is in fact the first time the two traditional rivals will be going up against each other in the ODI format since the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup.
India and Pakistan clashed in that edition of the World Cup on June 16 and India won that encounter by 89 runs.
The last edition of the
Asia Cup where India lost to Pakistan by 5 wickets was played in the T20 format.
Needless to say, fans on both sides of the border are waiting with bated breath to witness the next installment of this storied rivalry.

India and Pakistan could face each other as many as three times in this edition of the Asia Cup. Once in the group stage on Saturday, September 2. Then again in the Super 4 stage (India and Pakistan are favourites to qualify from Group A) and then potentially in the mega final on September 17 in Colombo.
On Thursday, August 31, Pallekele hosted the first Group B match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The match was not affected by rain, though there was an interruption due to a slight drizzle.
