The country's women have done India proud at this CWG. After Punam's feat, the focus now turns to our very own London Olympics bronze medallist Mary Kom.
For those not aware, in her illustrious trophy cabinet, Mary misses a CWG medal. In fact, this is her first Commonwealth Games. In 2014, women's boxing featured in CWG for the first time but Mary missed out and the slot went to Pinky Rani. Comeback queen Mary has defied all odds, and will begin her quest for an elusive gold at the event.

Terrific scenes at the Carrara Sports Club. A silver medal was confirmed for Sarah Davies but she wanted a gold, and went for a 128kg lift. Unfortunately for her and fortunately for Punam, Davies couldn't, despite looking sure for the most part. It was almost as if her legs gave up. But, WHAT AN EFFORT!

After a successful first lift of 96 kilos, Punam Yadav has pulled off stunning snatch lifts worth 98 kilos and 100 kilos in her second and third attempts. WHOA. We know that the clean and jerk awaits, but judging by how easy Punam is making it look, strong hopes of a seventh medal have harboured.
