GUWAHATI: Six Indian boxers, two hailing from the North East, entered the finals in their respective categories of the 4th Asian Women Boxing Championship at Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.
India's MC Mary Kom defeated Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Hoa in the 46 kg Pin category by 3-0 while local girl Kalpana Choudhury beat Ri Jong Hyang of People Republic Korea in the 48 kg light fly category by 3-1.
Another Indian, Sarita Devi won her 52 kg light Bantam bout in a knockout defeating Easerenchimeg Tesrendroj of Mongolia by 18-1.
Nagisetty Usha in the 57 kg feather weight category made it to the finals, defeating Yun Kum Ju of Peoples' Republic of Korea by 5-3 while Pavitra defeated Koroleva Oxana of Kazakhastan by 4-2 in the 54 kg Bantam weight category.
Another Indian Kavita Goyat won her 66 kg welter weight category by defeating Wang Qian of China by 4-0.
In the other matches, OK Jong of Peoples Republic of Korea beat Kodituwakku Anusha of Sri Lanka in the 46 kg pin category, Ngo Thi Phuong of Vietnam defeated Lin Wan Ting of Taipei in the light fly 48 kg and in 50 kg Fly weight category Kim Hyang OK of Peoples Republic of Korea beat Eun Ji Nam of Korea.
China's Li Siyuan and Ren CanCana defeated Jayasinghe Nilmini of Sri Lanka and Tong Song Hye of Peoples' Republic of Korea in the 50 kg flyweight and 52 kg Light Bantam weight respectively.
In the 54 kg Bantam weight, China's Zhang Qin defeated Eun a Jang of Korea while in the 57 kg Feather weight Imanbayeva Zhulduzay of Kazakhstan beat Chung Ngo Thi of Vietnam.
In the two 60 kg light weight, Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Yui and Kim Hye Yong of Peoples' Republic of Korea won their respective bouts against Su Wen Hsien of Taipei and Dong Cheng of China respectively.
In the two 63 kg light welter category, China's Ma Jianxa and Ri Hyon Hwa of Peoples' Republic of Korea won their respective matches against Anuradha Lama of Nepal and Khassenova Saida of Kazakhastan respectively.
