Prasad enter prequarters of AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship

NEW DELHI: Young pugilist Lalitha Polipalli Prasad stormed into the pre-quarterfinals of the light fly weight (49kg) category at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia.
The 17-year-old Services boxer, who recently bagged the light fly weight title at the Tammer International tournament in Finland, ousted Shatlykmyrat Myradov of Turkmenistan 11-7 on points to book his place in the round of 16.

Prasad had earlier defeated Fazil Kaggwa of Uganda with a huge margin of 14 points (20-6) in the first round.
Prasad, one of India's best bet for a medal, forged ahead took the early advantage against Myradov, with a one point lead in the first round.
The Turkmenistan boxer, however, managed to stay close to his Indian opponent as just two points separated the two after six minutes of the bout.
In the final round Prasad stretched his lead over Myradov with quick jabs and combinations.
Prasad will next face Issac Pinto of Ecuador on Monday. Earlier in the tournament, heavy weight boxer Amritpreet Singh (91kg) advanced to the round of 32 with a 15-7 win over Armin Prasovic of Montenegro in his opening round bout on Friday.
He will take on Pawel Wierzbicki of Poland on Saturday.
