National boxing championship gets underway

NEW DELHI: The Opening Ceremony of the SAHARA 57th Senior National Men's Boxing Championships was held on Saturday at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, followed by Preliminary bouts in the 49 kgs Weight Category.
Mr. Pravir Krishn, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India was the Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony.The following bouts are scheduled to take place in the 49 kgs wt cat on Saturday:
a) Baljinder (HP) vs Bikas (ASM)
b) Vipin Kumar (UP) vs Kripa Shankar (MP)
c) Vikas (CHD) vs S Ramu (AP)
d) Sanjay Kolte (SSCB) vs Patra Pratap (GUJ)
e) Devendro (MAN) vs Mathan Kumar (POND)
f) Md Hanif (GOA) vs Sandeep Malik (DEL)
g) Manoj Kumar (TRI) vs Amandeep Singh (RSPB)
h) Lal Chand (WB) vs Himanshu (CHT)
i) Bahadur Singh (UTK) vs Sunil (HAR)
j) Ratan Tamang (NAG) vs Sanjay Sahni (BIH)
k) Ramesh Singh (MEG) vs Salman (MAH)
International Medalists such Amandeep Singh (Commonwealth 2010 Gold Medalist), Sanjay Kolte(World Cadet Silver Medalist), Vipin Kumar (World Cadet Championship Gold Medalist) and Devendro Singh (Asian Youth Silver Medalist) will be seen in action.
A total number 263 boxers representing 32 States / Boards will be participating in 10 Wt Cats in this Championship.
