After a good showing at the Arafura Games in Darwin Australia, the Indian team would be returning home on Saturday. Pinki Jangra capped off a brilliant performance bagging the gold in women’s fly weight division. The 21 year old beat Siona Fernandes of New Zealand in an enthralling four rounds of action with a score of 18-13.
Meena Rani (60kg) and Pooja Rani (75kg) had to settle with a silver medal performance at the games.

Meena lost to Alexis Pritchard of New Zealand, whereas Pooja Rani was defeated by Arlene Blencowe of Australia, in their respective weight categories.
2008 Olympic Bronze medallist Vijender Singh (81kg) and Olympian Akhil Kumar (56kg) lost their semifinal bouts and had to settle with a bronze finish. While Vijender went down 16-17 to New Zealand’s Sam Rapira in a close encounter, Akhil tasted a 13-24 defeat at the hands of Australian Balla Ibrahim.
