Dingko Singh undertakes 2400-km road trip home
NEW DELHI: In the Capital for
Dingko began his journey this morning, travelling non-stop by an ambulance, hoping to cover the 2,400-km distance in over 48 hours and with no overnight stops. He is accompanied by his wife, a nurse and two drivers.
On Wednesday evening, the government announced that domestic flights, which had been suspended since late March, will resume on Monday, May 25. By then, Dingko, who was originally scheduled to travel on Friday, had left for Imphal after his request was advanced.

On examination, the doctors decided that his condition first needed chemotherapy instead. But it could not be administered since his jaundice has not subsided in all these weeks. It has been a particularly difficult year for the 41-year-old former boxer. In January, Dingko had contracted jaundice and was admitted to the ILBS, where a strong relapse of cholangiocarcinoma, a form of liver cancer, was suspected.
Radiation was suggested since he had already undergone an entire cycle of chemotherapy in 2017, but it had to be put off due to a low blood count. He returned home in early March after spending over six weeks at the ILBS, hoping to improve his blood count.
