PUNE: If you thought only the IPL produced edge of the seat entertainment, think again. On Sunday evening at the Modern PDMBA badminton complex the capacity crowd witnessed a nailbiter of sorts as Sensational Skylarks snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against the Inspiring Eagles in the final encounter of the Maharashtra Badminton League.
The Inspiring Eagles soared to a 2-0 lead thanks to some clinical shot selection and finishing from their stars Anand Pawar and Arundhati Pantawane against their respective opponents.
Pawar, who won the best player of the tournament (male) award, thrashed Pune's Sudhanshu Medshikar 21-9, 21-4 while Nagpur's Arundhati hardly broke sweat as she frustrated her opponent Tanvi Lad with her drop shots to register a 21-14, 21-10 win.
