Sairaj, Fizza, Krisha given seeding in Maharashtra Sub-Junior badminton tournament

Sairaj Nayse has been given the top billing in the first Maharashtra Sub-Junior (U-10 and U-13) State Selection Badminton tournament slated to be held here at the Subhedar Hall from June 11 to 15.

NAGPUR: Sairaj Nayse has been given the top billing in the first Maharashtra Sub-Junior (U-10 and U-13) State Selection Badminton tournament slated to be held here at the Subhedar Hall from June 11 to 15.
The Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) has announced the seedings for the state's inaugural tourney on Saturday.
An eight-year-old Sairaj will be the top seed in the Under-10 boys singles.

Aarush Pawaskar of Thane will be the second seed. Sairaj, a Standard IV student of Narayana Vidyalayam, had reached quarterfinals in two state tournaments last year held at Nashik and Nagpur. Sairaj trains under Kunal Dasarwar.
Nagpur district U-10 girls singles champion Fizza Akbani, a trainee of Ajay Dayal, has been given the second seeding on the basis of her performance in the last year’s state tournaments.
Another promising city shuttler Krisha Soni, member of Vision Academy, will be the fourth seed in the U-13 girls singles.
All the three city shuttlers -- Sairaj, Fizza and Krisha -- had emerged champions in their respective events during the Nagpur District Badminton Championship which concluded on Tuesday.
More than three hundred players from across the state will participate in the five-day tournament, which will be organized by the Nagpur District Badminton Association. The final will be played on June 15. Bhavna Agrey will be the tournament secretary. The organizing committee has been formed under the leadership of NDBA secretary Mangesh Kashikar.
