NAGPUR: Rohan Gurbani outclassed Tonmoy Bikash Boruah of Assam in straight games to storm into the U-13 boys singles quarterfinal in the All India Sub-Junior Open Ranking badminton tournament at Bhagalpur (Bihar) on Friday.
Sixth seed Rohan, who recently won state title at Nashik, steamrolled Boruah 21-14, 21-13 to book his place in the last eight.

However, his practice partner Sudhanshu Bhure lost in the pre-quarters against fifth seed Pavan Krishna Thokala of Andhra Pradesh 13-21, 13-21.

Ritika and her Mumbai Suburban partner Simran Singhi have reached the U-15 girls doubles quarterfinals. Fourth seeds Ritika-Simran trounced CV Ramya and Dhaarini Ravi Kumar 21-11, 21-19 in the second round. They will now take on Janhvi Khanna and Devarshi Sanghvi for a spot in the semis on Saturday.
