bagged bronze medal in the Yonex-Sunrise
All India Junior U-19 Ranking Badminton tournament
at the
Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence
in Bengaluru on Sunday.
In a play-off for the third spot, sixteenth seed Rohan Gurbani shocked seventh seed

21-7, 22-20 in 27 minutes to finish on the podium.
Sixteen-year-old Rohan got off to a flying start and raced to a 21-7 win in the first game. However, Rohan faced stiff resistance from his fellow Prakash Padukone Academy training partner Rawat in the second game. Rawat of Uttarakhand threatened to take the match into the third game but Rohan sealed the issue in straight games with 22-20 win in the second game.
It was second successive third-place finish for Rohan, a student of Sandipani High School, Hazaripahad. In the last tournament at Panchkula early this month, Rohan had also finished third.
Badminton meet at DNC from Aug 29Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Badminton Amateur Sub-Junior (U-10, U-13 and U-15) tournament, organized by the
Nagpur District Badminton Association
, will be held at the Dhanwate National College Indoor Hall from August 29 to September 1.
This is the first time that NDBA is holding a tourney for amateur players. Top two seeds in any category of the last two tournaments will not be allowed to play this tourney. Their entries will not be accepted. Last date of entries is August 26. Entries will be accepted only on the MBA website.
Fees can be paid online, in NDBA office or at the venue also before the match. The sessions of play will be only in the evening on the first three days, while the finals will be held on September 1 morning.
