Ritika, Malvika, Rohan move up in All India Ranking Badminton

NAGPUR: City shuttlers had a mixed day in the All India Sub-Junior (U-13 and U-15) Ranking Badminton tournament at Gulbarga, Karnataka, on Thursday.
Third seed Ritika Thaker and Rohan Gurbani won their respective first round matches in the U-15 singles. Malvika Bansod too advanced to the second round U-15 girls singles.
However, Ashani Joshi and Kirtesh Chaudhari lost in the first round.

Qualifier Ashani gave a big scare to seventh seed K Bhargavi before went down fighting in three games.
Kirtesh found the second seed Arshad Shaik too hot to handle in the U-13 boys singles opener.

U-13 girls singles: Ashani Joshi lost to 7-K Bhargavi 7-21, 24-22, 11-21.
U-15 girls singles: 3-Ritika Thaker bt Aarya Deshpande 21-11, 21-10; 7-Malvika Bansod walkover Ananya Goel.
U-13 boys singles: Kirtesh Chaudhari lost to 2-Arshad Shaik 8-21, 10-21.
U-15 boys singles: Rohan Gurbani bt Gautam Walia 21-8, 21-14.
U-15 boys doubles: Sudhanshu Bhure-Bhavin Karamchandani bt Keerthi Sasank Ayyagari Phani-Manish Kumar 21-8, 21-15; 7-Rohan Gurbani-Priyanshu Rajawat bt Rudra Abhyankar-Parth Deshpande 21-18, 21-19.
