"Getting selected for the Paralympics is a dream that I am living. I am grateful to all my coaches and family for their constant support. I really hope I live up to everyone's expectations and win a gold for the country," Nagar told TOI.

The 21-year-old, who hails from Jaipur, made the headlines in April after winning gold in both the singles and men's doubles event at the 3rd Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International in Dubai. Nagar trains in Lucknow under para badminton national coach

Gaurav Khanna

. "Before the event there is no tournament scheduled and it will be only training that I will stick to before leaving for Tokyo," the para shuttler said.

Paralympics 2021 will be held from August 24 to September 5. This year Badminton will make a debut in Paralympics and so far, five players have made the cut for the event in Tokyo. Palak Kohli and Parul Parmar had received an official invite for the SL3-SU5 doubles event on May 21.

"I would look at it in terms of what if there is a podium finish for me. Doing things for the first time has its own thrill. I am keeping myself composed," said Nagar, who is currently ranked no. 2.
