Malvika Bansod

Mugdha Agrey
entered the second round in the All India Junior Ranking Badminton tournament at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on Wednesday.
Malvika, who won four rounds to enter the main draw, shocked fourth seed Unnati Bisht 21-19, 21-18 in the first round to advance to the second round in the U-17 girls' singles.

Dabha, Malvika, who had reached quarterfinal in the previous meet at Bangalore, will take on
Riya Khatri
on Thursday.
Another promising city shuttler Mugdha qualified for the main draw in both U-19 girls singles and U-19 doubles with a brilliant effort.
The
LAD College
student also got rid of Unnati Bisht in the U-19 singles opening encounter in straight games. Mugdha will clash with second seed
Bhavya Rishi
of New Delhi on Thursday.
The pair of Mugdha and
Vaidehi Choudhari
will lock horns with fourth seeds
Maitreyee Khatri
and
Anagha Moghe
in the first round of U-19 girls' doubles.
Gargi Joshi
did well but lost in the final qualifying rounds of both U-17 and U-19 girls singles. Gargi and her partner
Aruni Chauhan
had main draw in the U-17 girls' doubles but since Aruni got injured in the last tournament at Bangalore, they had to withdraw from the event.
Rashi Lambe
, who had surprised everyone with a semifinal berth in the last week tourney at Bangalore, pulled out due to injury.
The other city shuttlers disappointed and crashed out in the qualifying rounds.
