HYDERABAD: Top Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth suffered an unexpected shock losing to Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong 21-10, 22-24, 21-17 in the first round of the Korea Open Super Series in Seoul on Wednesday.
Former national champion Sai Praneeth and Ajay Jayaram saved the blushes for India while Olympian Parupalli Kashyap, HS Prannoy and women's singles shuttler Tanvi Lad were shown the door in other first round matches.

Kashyap, who made the grade through qualifiers, lost to fourth seed Tian Houwei of China 22-20, 10-21, 13-21 and Prannoy was ousted by Tzu Wei Wong of Chinese Taipei 23-21, 17-21, 15-21.
Seasoned campaigner Ajay Jayaram downed local shuttler Jeon Hyeok Jin 23-21, 21-18. The world No.18 will face China's Huang Yuxiang on Thursday.
