Indian prospects in World Badminton Championships
Here is a look at the Indian prospects in World Badminton Championships.:
Men's singles:
Chetan Anand: In a comparatively easy draw. Likely to reach the third round. May go down against Chen Jin of China. If he upsets Chen another tough nut Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand would be waiting for him in quarters. The road from here would be very, very tough for Chetan.
Parupalli Kashyap: Starts against Thai Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk.
1x1 polls
Has lost to him twice and even if he manages to beat the Thai he is likely to face another tough rival in Japan's Kenichi Tago.
Women's singles:
Saina Nehwal: Goes up on court on Tuesday. Likely to reach the quarters without much sweat. May face Shixian Wang in last eight. If she overcomes Shixian she may face World No. 3 Wang Xin. Saina should be in great touch from the quarters to make it count.
Aditi Mutatkar: Faces world No. 13 Eriko Hirose of Japan. May not progress beyond the first round.
Mixed doubles (Diju/Jwala): Have a good chance of going the distance. They face real challenge from the quarters.
Women's doubles (Ashwini/Jwala): The new pair is doing well but face a tough test in the first round against Dutch pair of Samantha Barning and Eefje Muskens.
Men's doubles (Rupesh/Thomas): Are pitted against Nigerians Olga Fagbemi and Jinkan Ifraimu. Easy draw but may lose in the quarters.
