Hislop College badminton teams sweep Under-19 divisional titles

Hislop College added another feather in their cap by winning both the boys and girls divisional titles of U-19 Badminton tournament, organized by the Nagpur District Sports Office, at the Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur here recently.

NAGPUR: Hislop College added another feather in their cap by winning both the boys and girls divisional titles of U-19 Badminton tournament, organized by the Nagpur District Sports Office, at the Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur here recently.
In the girls section, Hislop College defeated Chandrapur 2-0 in the quarterfinal to start their campaign on a rousing note.

Gargi Joshi downed Vidhi 21-4, 21-12 in the first singles. Gargi then combined well with Palak Thakkar to oust Priyanka and Sneha 21-3, 21-4.
Hislop College recorded a similar 2-0 win against Wardha in the semis. Gargi outclassed Kanika 21-3, 21-5 in the first singles. The duo of Shruti Chokhandare and Palak got the better of Kanika and Ashawari 21-4, 21-5 to complete a 2-0 rout.
In the final too Hislop College continued their ruthless show and posted a 2-0 win against Nagpur gramin school. In the singles, Gargi trounced Ketki 21-3, 21-6. The pair of Gargi and Palak proved too strong for R Sana and Ketki as they notched up a 21-9, 21-7 win to clinch the title.
After getting a walkover in the quarters against Gadchiroli, Hislop College boys thumped Gondia 2-0 in the semis.
Nabeel Ahmed won the singles in straight games. The doubles match was won by Kartik Kashikar and Makarand Nimbalkar 21-14, 21-13.
In the summit clash against Nagpur gramin school, Hislop won 2-0. Nabeel won both his singles and doubles matches. The technical support was provided by the Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA).
By winning the division titles, Hislop College qualified to play in the forthcoming state level tournament. Principal of Hislop College Dipti Christian, Kalpana Jadhav, Amit Kanwar, Sanjay Ramteke and Anil Wadatkar congratulated the winning teams.
