Lakshya Sen and men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the quarterfinals of the China Masters BWF Super-750 tournament in Shenzhen on Thursday.

However PV Sindhu, Malvika Bansod, Anupama Upadhyaya and Treesa JollyGayatri Gopichand lost their second round matches.

While Malvika lost to Supanida Katethong of Thailand 9-21, 9-21, Anupama went down to Natsuki Nidaira of Japan 7-21, 14-21 and TreesaGayatri suffered a 16-21, 20-22 defeat against Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning. Despite their loss, Treesa-Gayatri are the only Indians to qualify for the year-ending BWF Tour Finals to be held in China next month.

Mixed doubles pair of Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy withdrew in the second round.

Meanwhile, Sindhu lost to Yeo Jia Min of Singapore 16-21, 21-17, 21-23. Lakshya eased past Rasmus Gemke 21-16, 21-18 in the second round. Despite looking a bit rusty, Satwik-Chirag defeated Rasmus Kjaer and Frederik Sogaard of Denmark 21-19, 21-15.
