Ameya Manke
continued his dream run and bagged the triple crown in the Gaikwad-Patil International School-SJAN Media Badminton tournament which concluded at Subhedar Hall on Tuesday.
The four-day annual tourney was organized by the Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur in association with department of sports and physical education of Nagpur University.
Navbharat's Manke, who had already bagged the men's singles title shocking top seed
Ashish Jain on Monday, won the men's doubles and mixed doubles titles also.
In the men's doubles final, pairing with
Mahesh Sarangi
he defeated Lokmat duo of Ashish Jain and
Pravin Kathane
21-12, 21-12. Then in the mixed doubles summit clash, 27-year-old Ameya and Kajal Chopde duo got the better of second seeds Suhas Nayse and Deblina Dasgupta of TOI 21-14, 21-10.
Earlier in the men's doubles semifinals, defending champions Ameya Manke and Mahesh Sarangi of Navbharat outclassed new entrants SS Ahmad and Farhan Qazi 21-7, 21-14.
The second semifinal was an exciting affair. Last year's runners-up Ashish Jain and Pravin Kathane of Lokmat edged out Suhas Nayse and Fakhruddin Bohra of Times of India 21-12, 12-21, 21-8.
Principal of Gaikwad-Patil International School Shabih Chaurasia and NDBA secretary Mangesh Kashikar distributed the prizes. Coordinator of Gaikwad Patil Group Preeti Kalbande, former SAI coach SSK Naidu and others were also present on the occasion. The winners were given cash prizes, trophies along with T-shirts and kit bags sponsored by Yonex Sunrise.
